Elphinstone Farm (and regenerative solarpunk lab)

Active Projects

What we're growing, building, and learning right now — syntropic agroforestry labs, a native plant nursery, a collaborative workspace, and more.

Syntropic Agroforestry Labs

Designing and planting multi-strata food forests modelled on natural succession. Our test plots explore combinations of canopy trees, shrubs, groundcovers, and root crops suited to the coastal BC climate.

We're documenting soil health, canopy development, and yield over time — with the goal of sharing open-source growing guides for the Salish Sea bioregion.

In progress

Native Plant Nursery

Propagating indigenous species for restoration, edible landscapes, and habitat corridors. Current focus: Oregon grape, red elderberry, salal, camas, and various riparian species.

Plants will be available to local land stewards, restoration projects, and community gardeners. A modest sliding-scale model to keep it accessible.

Early stage

Collaborative Workspace

A working space for agritech, dweb, and solarpunk projects — with good light, solid internet, and access to the land. Designed for small teams and solo practitioners who want to work somewhere that isn't a city.

We're figuring out the model: residencies, memberships, or project-based hosting. Reach out if you have ideas.

Planning

Open Proposal Board

An online space for proposing initiatives, sharing knowledge, and coordinating with others interested in the farm's direction. We want decisions to be legible and participatory — especially for those who contribute time or resources.

Currently a simple shared document. Building toward something more structured as the community grows.
