From Vancouver to Langdale

To get to the Sunshine Coast from the Vancouver area you must cross Howe Sound. The most common route is the BC Ferries service from Horseshoe Bay (West Vancouver) to Langdale. The crossing takes about 40 minutes and runs frequently throughout the day - Horseshoe Bay to Langdale schedule. Do consider the return schedule from Langdale to Horseshoe Bay. Note that the last ferry from the coast to the mainland departs at 9:35PM.
BC Ferries reservations are recommended on weekends and holidays.

Parking at Horseshoe Bay

If you don’t mind a 15 minute walk, the best place to park in Horseshoe Bay is at the Lions’ Club Overflow Parking Lot

Water Taxi ($$$)

Additional options include chartering a water taxi from Sunshine Coast Water Taxi, Cormorant Water Taxi, or Mercury Transport.

From Langdale to Elphinstone Farm

From Langdale, the farm is approximately a 2 minute drive (15 minute bike, 40 minute walk) along the Sunshine Coast Highway (Hwy 101) towards Port Mellon. We have a farm minivan that we use for transporting groups so get in touch if you’d like a lift!

Getting Around

The Sunshine Coast isn’t well-served by transit for rural destinations. If you’re coming from Vancouver without a car, the combination of ferry + bicycle works reasonably well in good weather.
